Beaufort Bailey (Forsyth County Commissioner)

Beaufort earned a B.S. Degree from Winston-Salem State University, and went on to attain a Masters from North Carolina Central University. He retired from Winston-Salem State University, after serving as a Media Specialist for 35 years. Beaufort is currently a Forsyth County Commissioner. He has volunteered as a board member for both the Winston-Salem/Forsyth County Board of Education and Forsyth Technical Community College. Beaufort is also a member of the Public Health Board of Directors, and sits on the Boards of Forsyth County Smart Start and Public Library.

After receiving her undergraduate degree from the University of North Carolina at Greensboro, Melanie earned a MBA from Wake Forest University, where she would later work as the Associate Director of Marketing and Career Services. Melanie has served as Director of Marketing for United Way of Forsyth County and has held the title of Vice President of Marketing for Santa Fe Natural and RJ Reynolds Tobacco Companies. She currently works as a consultant with MadCat Group, LLC. She has been involved with The Junior League of Winston-Salem and the Forsyth County Humane Society and serves as a board member for the Barry L. Joyce Cancer Support Fund.

Harold A. Bass (Rockingham County Commissioner)

After earning his B.S. in Music Education from Virginia State University, Harold began working at Kraft General Foods eventually retiring after 30 years. Currently, Harold is serving his second term as a Rockingham County Commissioner. On the board since 2004, he served as the Vice-Chairman in 2006, the Chairman in 2007 and currently serves as the Vice-Chairman. Harold has volunteered his time for a number of Rockingham civic organizations including Rockingham County Tomorrow, Rockingham County Planning Board, Council on Aging, Rockingham County Library Board, North Carolina Senior Tar Heel Legislature and the Rockingham County Community College Board. Harold is currently the President of the Reidsville Rotary Club, serves on the Wachovia Board of Directors and is a member of Holy Infant Roman Catholic Church.

After earning his undergraduate degree in Business Administration from UNC Chapel Hill, Perry went on to earn a M.S. in Educational Administration from North Carolina A&T University. He then began working for the Stokes County School System as a teacher and later became a principal. Perry was recognized during his 31-year career with various accolades including Principal of the Year. He has served as president of both the King Rotary Club and Stokes County Retired School Personnel. Perry has also chaired the Stokes YMCA board and Stokes Partnership for Children, and served ten years as an elder at Poplar Springs Church of Christ.

Edith Collins (Rockingham County)

At age 18, Edith married a man who was eventually elected the Mayor of Mayodan and a County Commissioner. She served as a full-time mother for 15 years raising three sons before joining the Madison Mayodan Recreation Department. Over her 22 years at the department, she wore many hats including payroll and bookkeeping duties. Edith served as a Madison Mayodan School Board Member from 1988 - 1993. In 1999, she was appointed as a board member of the former Alamance, Caswell, Rockingham LME. Currently, she serves on the Salvation Army Board, Rouse's Group Home Board and the Auxiliary Board of the Annie Penn Hospital, where she has also volunteered for six years. Edith is an active member of First Baptist Church in Reidsville where she teaches an adult senior class.

She has served as the Assistant Town Manager of Mocksville and Town Manager of Bermuda Run. Currently Beth is the Davie County Manager. She has been involved with Smart Start of Davie County, Davie County Hospital Advisory Committee, Piedmont Triad Leaders Institute, Davie County United Way and is a current Board Member of the Davie County Hospital.

Brenda earned a B.S. in Business Administration and Economics from High Point College before entering her professional career where she spent a total of 32 years in local governmental departments. She began her career with the Forsyth County Department of Social Services. Brenda went on to become a Forsyth County Internal Auditor and County Government Risk Manager. From there, she began working within County Reinsurance, Limited, and is currently the Member Services Manager. Brenda has been an active member of North Carolina's Public Risk Management Association (PRIMA) since 1995, serving as President from 2002 - 2004. She also served on the National PRIMA By-Laws Committee, and has served on the boards of Institute of Internal Auditors and the Forsyth County Credit Union.

Patrick earned a B.A. in Sociology from Dartmouth College and went on to receive a MBA from Bellarmine University. Patrick began his career in Educational Administration, eventually becoming a Director of Financial Aid and Assistant Dean of Admission. He left the college setting and took various finance positions in the publishing and banking fields before beginning his employment at Reynolds American where he is currently the Director of Finance. Patrick has served within the Dartmouth Club of the Piedmont, United Way of Forsyth County and volunteers at Holy Family Church.

After earning a Health Care Administration Degree, Doris began her nursing career at North Miami General, became the Director of Education at Palmetto General, and found her way to the local area when she accepted the position of In-service Educator of Medicine and Psychiatry at Baptist Hospital. She went on to become the Stokes County Mental Health Director and a Staff Development Coordinator at Bowman Grey School of Medicine. Doris is currently the Stokes County Mental Health Association Director and serves as a leader for the Boy Scouts of America Medical Volunteer Program. She has been involved with the Arts Council, Northwest Child Development, Interagency Council, Counseling and Care Ministries, Stokes SCAN, and has been a Delegate to Northwest district for the United Methodist Church.

Leon received a B.A. in Spanish from Guilford College and went on to obtain both a M.A. in Guidance and Counseling from Appalachian State University and a M.A. in Educational Leadership and Supervision From the University of North Carolina at Greensboro. He has worked as a teacher, counselor and administrator within Stokes County Schools for 33 years. Leon is currently a Stokes County Commissioner, serving as Chairman of the Board for the past 3 years. He has served on Board of Directors for Yadkin Valley Economic Development District, Incorporated, P.A.R.T. and King Chamber of Commerce. Leon is also a member of the Board of Directors for the North Carolina Association of County Commissioners District 18.

Dr. Brad Jones (Davie County)

Brad graduated from Wake Forest University with a B.S. in Chemistry and went on to attain a Ph.D. in Analytical Chemistry from the University of Florida. Since then, Brad has been a Professor of Chemistry at Wake Forest, where he has been a Tatum Family Fellow since 2007, and chaired the department for eight years. In addition to teaching multiple chemistry courses, and overseeing millions of dollars in grant monies, Brad has also developed a First Year Seminar course entitled “The Analytical Methods of Sherlock Holmes.” Brad has volunteered with Rotary International and served as a Sunday School Teacher, Deacon and Parliamentarian at First Baptist Church of Mocksville.

Bob earned his bachelor's degree in political science from Guilford College, his master's degree in ethics from Duke University Divinity School, and a doctorate in ethics in education from Southeastern Baptist Theological Seminary. He also completed additional graduate study in counseling and higher education administration at UNC-Greensboro. Bob has worked primarily in higher education settings, both public and private, as a professor, campus minister, chief student development officer, chief advancement officer, assistant to the president, and chief executive officer. He has also worked in the publishing industry as a financial advisor for nonprofit foundations, and as head of a community action agency. He has served as a trainer and consultant for nonprofit governing boards and frequently speaks to college, community and church groups. Bob is currently Vice President for Student Development at Rockingham Community College.

Ron received his B.A. from Guilford College and went on to obtain a Master of Public Affairs from University of North Carolina at Greensboro. He has been Project Director for a service provider now known as Mosaic, Executive Director of Sue Lynn Residential Services and Development and Property Manager for ARC of North Carolina. Ron has volunteered his time serving on a number of boards including 36 continuous years between the former Rockingham County Area Mental Health Board and former Alamance, Caswell, Rockingham LME Board. He has also been the President of NC Council of Community Programs, and is the current Chair of the Rockingham County Emergency Food and Shelter (FEMA) Board. Ron has served as an Eden City Councilman, and was also active on a number of Eden City boards. He currently volunteers as a Physical Education Teaching Assistant at Draper Elementary school in Eden.

Mark earned an undergraduate in Parks Administration from the School of Forestry at NC State University and a Masters in Public Administration from Appalachian State University. He is responsible for starting the Forsyth County Parks and Recreation Department, where he currently serves as Recreation Director. As Director, Mark manages millions of dollars a year and ensures 14 county park locations, including state-renowned Tanglewood Park, are operating properly. He has served as Chairman of the Forsyth County Employees Credit Union, been a member of CenterPoint's Consumer & Family Advisory Committee, and currently holds the chairmanship of the CenterPoint Finance Committee

Bryan obtained a B.S. from Appalachian State University, and went on to earn a J.D., cum laude, from Norman Wiggins School of Law at Campbell University. He is currently a member of the North Carolina State Bar having been licensed since 1999. After one year as an associate with John R. Surratt, P.A., he became a member of the firm at which time the firm was named Surratt & Thompson, PLLC. He was appointed Public Administrator of Forsyth County in 2006. His legal practice areas include Elder Law; Wills; Trusts and Estates; Guardianship; Corporate Law; Collections; Taxation; Consumer Law; and Residential / Commercial Real Estate. In addition to his legal practice, Bryan serves on the Advisory Board of the Salvation Army in Winston-Salem, the Human Rights Committee of CenterPoint Human Services and the Board of Directors of the North Carolina Guardianship Association.

Alvin Tyndall (Forsyth County)

Alvin earned a B.A. Degree from North Carolina at Chapel Hill. Tyndall has extensive work experience ranging from, counseling committed youth offenders to managing the Winston-Salem Symphony. Additionally, Alvin held positions at Forsyth Mental Health Center, Forsyth-Stokes Mental Health Center and CenterPoint Human Services. Over the years Tyndall has held various volunteer positions at churches, currently serving as the Financial Secretary of Marvin United Methodist Church. He has volunteered in a wide variety of organizations including the Winston-Salem Jaycees, Wake Forest University Wesley Foundation, Stained Glass Playhouse, and founded two volunteer associations.

After graduating with a B.S. Degree in from Radford University Candace went on to receive her PhD in Counseling Psychology from the University of Tennessee at Knoxville. She served as a Psychologist within Wake Forest University's Counseling Center before becoming a Psychologist for ACT Medical Group. A Licensed Psychologist, Candace travels the Triad to assigned Skilled Nursing and Assisted Living facilities providing evaluations and psychotherapy services to referred residents.
