Developmental Disabilities Advisory Committee

The Developmental Disabilities Advisory Committee serves as an advisory committee to the leadership team at CenterPoint Human Services. The Committee is comprised of persons with developmental disabilities, family members, providers, and citizens concerned about the rights of people with developmental disabilities. The committee meets monthly (except July and December), and discusses current issues regarding DD services, such as Medicaid and State Funded services, educational needs of students with disabilities, and societal integration.

The DD Advisory Committee promotes services that are person driven and involve full participation in the community of the person’s choice. The Committee believes persons with disabilities should not be institutionalized, but instead live as independently as possible with both professional and natural supports. An individual’s life should be driven by self-determination and involve activities they choose to participate in.

DD Advisory meetings are held at 5:30 p.m. on the first Thursday evening of each month, other than July and December. All are welcome. To be notified, call Jeff Payne at 336-714-9171, or email jpayne@cphs.org.
